Accommodation - Moor Farm Lodge

Travel down a quiet country lane to reach Moor Farm House, the location for Moor Farm Lodge. Come into the drive & yard area where there is allocated parking & a private entrance to the Lodge.The pathway leads onto decking which extends around the living areas of the property. Step through the door into a light & airy, self contained, single storey Lodge, with farmland views & the peace & tranquility of the countryside. The decked areas of the property are all private & not overlooked & with patio furniture supplied to enable you to enjoy both the inside & outside locations, there’s no excuse not to sit back & soak up the beauty of nature. The Lodge boasts a South facing living/dining room area with patio doors opening onto the decking. A spacious kitchen with complimentary drinks & basics to compliment your visit & the utility room contains all the appliances you need for your stay. The large shower room with walk in plunge shower & shower seat also comes fully provisioned & all towels & bed linen are provided.

With canine & equine visitors welcome, we've provided a paddock adjacent for exercising & as the property resides within 1700 acres of farmland, take a meander outside along the footpaths & bridleways to explore your surroundings. The Lodge is close to nowhere but near to everywhere & the towns of Grantham & Newark are but a short car ride away.

There are some great locations to visit & a few fine local pubs to drink & dine in. Our Lodge is pet friendly & we have stabling available for those wishing to bring their equine companions.

Moor Farm Lodge is managed by A Fine Experience & the team is available to help make your visit one to remember from simply booking your stay to planning, arranging & assisting with activities, events or that special bespoke experience.

There’s plenty to do & experience nearby to Moor Farm Lodge from clay pigeon shooting, birds of prey experiences, karting, a polo taster, alpaca walking & even tank driving. A Fine Experience can assist in arranging any activity.

Brandon Wood Clay Shooting Ground where some of the UK's top shooting experts come to compete & practice. The Shooting ground is open to the public Thursdays & weekends from 10am & is also available for private hire. The Shooting ground has a cafe offering hot & cold snacks, cakes & hot drinks, so pop down for a visit. In addition, AFX can offers its visitors a chance to course fish the lakes for carp, tench & roach whilst enjoying the beautiful arable lands the lakes are situated in.

Moor Farm Lodge can also offer its guests the option to book our mobile services from beauty therapies, massage treatments or one on one yoga & PT sessions from our qualified, trained experts.

Moor Farm House

The property is a working establishment with competition horses, a few rare breed chickens, a couple of sheep, cats & of course the Labrador crew!

Canine & equine visitors are welcome & we have the facilities to accommodate you all. For our canine friends there are areas to exercise, some lovely walks & facilities to wash down & dry upon return.

Stabling - Red Fox Equestrian

We have stabling available for equine visitors with several equestrian competition centres & events local to the property including Arena UK & Oasby Horse Trials. Our equine visitors have the use of the rear yard stables (12x12, rubber floors & with views over the farmland!), wash box, arena, equipment, show jumps, a few XC training fences, grazing & parking for trailers or horse boxes (hook up is also available).

The immediate surrounding area is serviced by a number of superb restaurants & bars including the highly regarded Brownlow Arms in nearby village of Hough on the Hill & The Red Lion at Caythorpe.

Getting Around

Moor Farm Lodge is easily accessed, just outside the village of Stubton, a few miles from the major arterial A1. Located approximately halfway between Grantham & Newark (about 7 miles in either direction) which also offer excellent train services covering the North/South & East/West regions. London is 1hr 10mins from Grantham, Newark to Edinburgh is 3.5hrs & Newark to Nottingham is 40mins.

For the out of country visitors there are several airports within an hours drive.

Public transport is limited at the Lodge, pre-booking taxi services or notifying your host of your transport requirements is advised so they can assist where needed.

Train stations locally are:

Grantham Station 12.5 miles - 25mins

Newark Northgate Station 10.5 miles - 25mins

Newark Castle 11.5 miles - 25mins.

Stunning open plan living from kitchen to sitting room, through the conservatory to the games room, cinema, bar, gym & beautifully landscaped out-doors. 6 en-suite bedrooms provide space for friends & family. For extended family why not invite them to stay in the adjacent properties - The Pen & The Rookery.

This venue boasts a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, fireplace with log burner, floor to ceiling windows & doors to the gardens, stairs to a glazed galleria landing & opening through to a bespoke semi-circular bar. The dining room is a delightful double aspect room with a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams & chimney breast with doors opening onto the gardens with views over the lake. The sitting room leads through to the games room which opens out onto the garden & includes a home cinema complete with tiered seating, separate WC & doors leading to the rear of the property. To the rear of the property is an L-shaped conservatory/atrium with double doors opening onto a decked terrace & stairs to the first floor. The magnificent kitchen breakfast room has breakfast bar, Aga, induction hob, windows from floor to vaulted ceiling, with two sets of double doors opening onto the decked terrace. Providing the perfect setting for any gathering.

The Pen at Gorse Lodge Rural Fishing & Shooting Retreat is a small self contained studio with en-suite shower room, king size bed, small kitchenette & dining facility with ample parking. The Pen is ideal for those wishing to spend a few days shooting, fishing or enjoying the countryside. The Pen is situated at the end of a private lane, with stunning landscaped gardens & lakes. The towns of Grantham & Newark are just a short journey away. A Fine Experience is able to arrange a variety of activities, visits or experiences to enhance your stay with at The Pen.

Accommodation - The Rookery

The Rookery is situated on the beautiful Lincolnshire-Nottinghamshire border at the end of a private lane nestled within 32 acres of landscaped gardens & woodland overlooking it's own private fishing lakes & clay shooting ground. Easy access to Grantham & Newark. The Rookery has quaint living space with double sofa bed, microwave, kettle, sink, king bedroom with en-suite shower room & beautifully landscaped out-doors. Newly built, the Rookery is an ideal place to escape for that much needed down time.

The local neighbourhood

A quiet location, picturesque views of the countryside. Public footpaths, cycle paths & bridleways close by.

The closest store is the village shop in Claypole, the nearest supermarket is Sainsbury as you drive into Newark. The local pub 'The Five Bells' is 2.5 miles away in the village of Claypole.

Stubton Hall is located 1.2 miles from the Lodge, the PFI Karting track is 2.2 miles & Newark showground is 8.7 miles from our location.

Nearby, is the International PFI Karting track which holds competitions throughout the year, as well as 'arrive & drive' for visitors. The area also holds several big country shows & national places of interest.

For the more relaxed visit, Newark, Lincoln & Grantham hold treasures & history of their own & visitors are encouraged to visit the local areas, see the antiques & visit some of the fabulous coffee houses & shops.
